Water as Sorcery: Collective Healing, 2021

Final Diploma film for Diploma 2
Year 5, Architectural Association, London (UK)

This project aims to establish a new Public Wellness Platform in which citizens gather as communities to collectively participate in wellness practices that are deployed virtually and felt physically. A new model of a Global Virtual Bathhouse is inspired by Soviet Sanatorium culture and built on a required access to the main sensorial translator - water. Citizens are invited to take a rest during the day, recover from medical or mental treatment, or share their unique water experiences with their companions from the comfort of their bathroom.

Tools: Unreal Engine, Rhinoceros 3D, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop
Methods: 3D Modelling, Simulation, Case Study, Architectonic Recreation, Spatial Analysis, VR

Soviet Sanatoriums: an asymptote of Collective Healing, 2020

Context Research for Diploma 2
Year 5, Architectural Association, London (UK)

An immersive study of Soviet Sanatoriums, wellbeing institutions born under the ideology of Soviet Union that historically provided workers with constructive rest. While number of them has declined with time, the few that remain popular still operate today. I have visited many as a child with my family, experiencing soviet-era treatments and unconventional healthcare firsthand. Case study: Druzhba Sanatorium in Crimea

Tools: Unreal Engine, Rhinoceros 3D, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop
Methods: 3D Modelling, Case Study, Architectonic Recreation, Spatial Analysis

Enabling Water Sorcery/
Non-contact Water Haptics: Feeling the Presence of Another, 2021

Final work for Technical Design Thesis ETS5
Year 5, Architectural Association, London (UK)

How can we control water environments to enable the feeling of presence of another through water remotely? The study structure formed a methodology fitted to recreate sense of touch underwater remotely. This had been mediated through: control test of existing sound sensors, a DIY tool that captured the range of vibration or touch translations in different water compositions, followed by extraction of measurements based on observations, and the comparisons of the results that informed series of design decisions.

Tools:
Arduino UNO, Ultrasonic Sensor HC-SR04, Arduino IDE software, After Effects, Photography, Adobe Audition
Methods:
Modelling, Experiment, Observation, Motion Tracking, Coding, Audio Analysis

Reversing the One-way mirror:
Xinjiang’s Architecture of oppression and superimposition of data in London Underground, 2020

Final Diploma film for Diploma 3
Year 4, Architectural Association, London (UK)

This project investigates how control in the era of digital platforms is expressed through invisible shaping of human behaviour, embodying progression from the Foucault’s biopolitical disciplining of the body to the remote programming of the mind. It is a two-part investigation into surveillance infrastructure present in Xinjiang, China and spaces governed by Transport for London, that as a conclusion offers a risk assessment that would allow people to act differently in relation to their privacy.

Tools: Unreal Engine, Rhinoceros 3D, QGIS, After Effects, Photogrammetry, Illustrator, Agisoft Metashape
Methods: 3D Modelling, Data Mining / Extraction, Spatial Analysis, Case Study, Mapping, Motion Tracking, 3D imagery, Fieldwork, Photogrammetry

The Birdcage, 2018

Final design work for Design Studio 3.4
Year 3, University of Westminster, London (UK)

Inspired by the promotional and artistic endeavours of the Suffragette movement, the Birdcage is a fictional tale juxtaposing conflicting architectural moments in time, whose common ground forms the south-western entry to Bank Junction, to create a new beacon of gender equality. The projects addresses the less yet still existing issue of equality through a proposal of a new square dedicate in the name of Emmeline Pankhurst and her fight for the rights to vote. The proposal outlines, supports and addresses current movements. The square accommodates the birdcage installation, a public square, a suffragettes museum, sculpture studios and a ruins park.

Tools:
Rhinoceros 3D, Vectorworks, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
Methods:
3D Modelling, Case Study, 3D imagery, Fieldwork, Spatial Analysis
